Review: For the Love of Cats by Dena Harris

If you love your cat, you'll love this book! Historical anecdotes, famous quotations, fun facts, and personal stories that celebrate our furry feline friends. Attractively illustrated with full-color photos and drawings. Terrific as a gift or as a self-purchase. It's entertaining, touching, and purrfectly fun.

I received this book as a lovely gift from my aunt.

This book was filled with lots of tidbits on cat history and lore. My favorites were:

Beware of people who don't like cats. - Irish saying

You can't look at a sleeping cat and be tense. - Jane Pauley

I loved the pages about the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum. Over sixty cats with extra toes (polydactyl) live there, most descended from a single cat received by Hemingway as a gift from a sea captain friend. Although I have bad memories of The Old Man & the Sea from high school the cats are a definite reason to visit Key West and see the property!

This one gets an enthusiastic eight stars. It is comprehensive and charming, and a fast read. An excellent gift book for cat lovers everywhere!

Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆
