Today Sam Moffie, author of No Mad, is joining us for a great interview and giveaway!
Beth: Hi! Welcome to Beth's Book Review Blog! It's great to have you here today! Thank you for taking the time to join us and answer some questions.
Congratulations on your third book, No Mad, being published! Can you tell us a little bit about it?
Sam: No Mad is my third novel. It's an old fashioned "road story", with very modern updates -- relationships, travels, thoughts, politics, popular culture, etc.
Beth: What is the significance of the title?
Sam: It's a play on the word nomad. Remember it's a road story. The reader will have to find out an additional meaning.
Beth: What is the main message you want readers to take away from the book?
Sam: That no matter wherever you go... there you are.
Beth: Your main character has a golden retriever, Churchill. Is he based on a real dog in your life?
Sam: Yes. My present golden retriever -- Bailey.
Beth: If your book was made into a movie, who would you most like to have play your main character, Aaron?
Sam: From your keyboard to the movie god's ears! I think I'm leaning towards Sean Penn.
Beth: Do you have any special writing routines? Do you always write in the same place at the same time of day?
Sam: I write every day in the morning and the daytime at my desk. I sometimes go outside with a pad of paper and pen when the weather warrants it for outlining purposes.
Beth: I'm always curious about what other people are reading. What are you reading now?
Sam: This is a great question. I read fiction, because it's a form of classroom for me. When I want some entertainment -- I go non-fiction. I'm currently reading and enjoying John Irving's The Cider House Rules.
Beth: And finally, do you have a favorite book of all time?
Sam: There's a lot. How about a top three? The World According To Garp by John Irving. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut.
