Mystery and Romance Writing–The Easiest Thing I Have Ever Done
By Gale Laure

I have been down a lot of roads in my life. Many of them have been difficult. When I started down the road of my career, I worked as an assistant in a medical office. Parts of the job I found rewarding. Other parts I found trying, almost devastating for me. So I moved on . . . .

Next, I opened my own consulting company. I helped companies run their operations more smoothly. I was good at marketing and my life’s experience in business (and my education) helped them with any problems they presented to me. I was a great problem solver. What I did not know, I found answers. But I tired of solving other people’s problems.

So I was offered a position in a surgeon’s office. I loved the people and the chance of helping people. As the office manager, again I had to handle the problems. It began to wear me out. Each night, I could not sleep. My health began to suffer. I had to move on.

I always loved planning trips. So I took a course and opened my own travel agency. I had wonderful clients. They loved me because I used my research ability to provide extra tips on trips. But something was missing for me. I felt anxious, not happy.

I tried brief times in several other careers. Something just never felt right to me. Something was always missing.

One day after speaking to my sister about my dilemma, I decided to write. She reminded me how I loved making up stories for neighborhood children. She always loved my stories. So I began to tell a story. The story popped into my mind. I could see my characters all around me. It was so right - the easiest thing I have ever done. This was the birth of Evolution of a Sad Woman, my debut novel of mystery and romance. It was wonderful! While I was writing, I forgot to eat. My husband said he had never seen me so happy. Nothing in my life was ever this easy. Nothing ever felt this good to me. I smiled all the time.

I am still smiling. I am editing my second novel, The Bunkhouse, a sci-fi, historical, mystery, suspense, thriller, romance. I am writing the sequel to Evolution of a Sad Woman. It is entitled Alana - Evolution of a Woman. It will be a mystery, suspense, thriller, romance book. I am also researching another novel.

Believe me, not everything is perfect. I dislike the edits. But, my writing is “me giving a special part of myself to the world”. It is my heart and soul. It is the breath I take. Life is good.

This story has a happy ending!

About the book:

Five very different men - all strangers - are drawn together to solve a murder by an uncommon thread - the love of the same beautiful woman, Kizzy. When she is murdered, they pull their past into their present, their present explodes, and their future is filled with surprise and changed forever!

When police detective Evan Picard, attorney William Newton, cabdriver Jimmy Smithson, former pro-football player turned used car salesman Tom Hastings and Father C.D. Casmiersky are forced together - personalities explode, tensions build and relationships develop. The ending to this chapter of their lives and to Kizzy's murder will have a surprise none of them will ever expect.

I am looking for a mystery romance book to read. Read your chapter one on the internet which is like a short murder mystery.

Does your novel has a romantic theme? Tell me a little about it without giving away anything.

You say writing your mystery romance story was easy. Did you do any research related to anything about your book?

mystery romance gal,
My novel as it states in the "About Book" section on this blog is about five men who love the same woman, Kizzy. Note that throughout the book the men remember the special love they have shared with Kizzy in detail. You will not be disappointed in the romance department.

The mystery will keep you guessing, too. These five men get personally involved in this murder mystery. They are taken into a world of which they have never experienced. This will not be a good place to go.

Okay. I think that should tell you just a little.

Try it. I think you will like it!

Anonymous,
Yes. Writing my novel was so easy for me.

Yes. I did a lot of research for my book. After I wrote it, I concentrated on information. I used book, magazines, newspapers and most of all - people. I interviewed a lot of people such as police officers, lawyers and experts in the field of Catholicism. I wanted to be as accurate as possible.

Thanks for blogging in with your question.
