Review: Crazy About Cookies by Krystina Castella

Crazy About Cookies: 300 Scrumptious Recipes for Every Occasion & CravingBakers everywhere went crazy over Krystina Castella's Crazy About Cupcakes, and will go completely wild over these 300 clever cookie recipes. The baking phenomenon whips up delicious riffs on the classics and more adventurous offerings (like savory cornmeal olive cookies). There's something for every occasion, from melt-in-your-mouth after-school snacks to fun Christmas cookie constructions. A basics section on doughs, toppings and decoration techniques makes this the cookie foundation every creative foodie needs.

From the library.

I continued my library cookbook binge with this yummy book.  I was initially excited to read it but quickly became disillusioned.

This started off fine with descriptions of ingredients and baking methods, etc. but  once I actually hit the recipes they were so tangled together that I quickly just gave up and abandoned the book entirely.  It just was not worth it.

By tangled I mean that each cookie's recipe did not start on a fresh page.  So, if one recipe ended a 1/4 of the way down the page the next just started right after it.  This made for both difficult skimming and finding out which recipes matched up to which cookie pictures.  This is just unacceptable formatting in a professionally published book.

This one gets two stars.  What recipes I did manage to slog through before abandonment were rather good, but the formatting was just so off-putting I won't be trying any of them.  Give this one a pass and try another, better formatted, cookie cookbook.
