Review: Hot or Not App

I'll admit that I'm a little bit addicted to voting sites, especially those fashion sites that feature polls on which celebrity looked better wearing a given outfit (ie Bitch Stole My Look! on E!'s Fashion Police). So when someone recommended the brand new Hot or Not app to me I downloaded it to my iPhone and gave it a try.

It's a simple idea - you are shown a series of pictures of men and women and you vote on whether they are hot (heart button) or not (X button). Is it shallow? Yes, but it's really quite addictive.

You can like your Facebook friends (and their friends) if you are so inclined. You can also find out your hotness score if that's something you're into.

The app also expands upon the standard voting, via an integrated social media component, to provide an opportunity to find people with similar levels of hotness in the surrounding area and chat with them. I haven't taken advantage of that particular aspect of the app, but it seems like it would be good for younger singles in larger cities who are looking to meet new people.

Hot or Not also has a Facebook page where you can find out more information about the app and watch fun video submissions. They have an amusing video on there now called "When your mom is hotter than you on #HotorNotApp".

They actually also have an awesome sweepstakes going on now for everyone who downloads their app. They're offering a $1,000 gift card to the winner's retailer of choice. That's a whole lot of books or apps!

Overall the app (which is available for both iOS and Android) works quite well, and is very user friendly. Running it on my iPhone I had no issues using either via cell or wifi. It runs quickly and easily either way.

This is certainly an entertaining new app which is worth a look, especially since it's completely free to download and use.

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own.
